More funding for Neath Port Talbot start ups

Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council have announced further funding for new local start up businesses.  There is now a £500 Start up grant available and there is also a Capital Grant available.  If you are thinking of becoming self employed then you could be eligible for this funding to help you get started.   Your new business would need to be based within the County of Neath Port Talbot or if you intend to work from home then you need to be a resident of the Borough.  Business Connect can help you to apply for the funding.

More good news for Port Talbot!

This week a new £4m recycling plant was officially opened. Tyregenics in Baglan, Port Talbot is the first of its kind in Northern Europe and employs 30 people. The plant will reprocess around 5 million used tyres each year and turn them into tiny crumbs. These crumbs can be used to make artificial sports fields, flooring and insulation. 30 new jobs at Baglan

Its been announced in the Western Mail that there are 30 new jobs coming to Baglan. Energy & Power Consultants Ltd are expanding into Wales and will be based in the Baglan Bay Energy Park. Great news for Neath Port Talbot!

The Queen’s Award team visit Business Connect

Yesterday Business Connect hosted a presentation from The Queen’s Awards representatives to the local business community. David Moore who is the Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Advisory Committee and Steve Brice who is the Secretary of The Queen’s Awards presented a talk to raise awareness of the Awards to South West Wales businesses. The audience included Hywel Evans President of the West Wales Chamber of Commerce, Mike Jones from the FSB, Alan Howells from the local Authority, representatives from Lloyds TSB, Natwest, HSBC and Barclays Bank, the South Wales Evening Post and Business Connect Advisors.

The Queen’s Awards are the most prestigious business awards in the UK and are open to all British firms with at least 2 employees. The Awards are presented annually by HM The Queen at a reception held at Buckingham Palace. The Awards carry significant benefits including marketing and publicity advantages as the Awards emblem can be used on promotional material for five years. Applications must be received by the end of October although Mr Brice asked firms to consider applying earlier. All applicants receive feedback about their application.
